Skrang River Longhouse Excursion

DURATION: 3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS OR LONGER
DEPARTURE: DAILY AT 9:00AM VIA KUCHING
GRADE: MEDIOCRE

Day 1: Pick up from your hotel in the morning driven through country road for 5 hours passing by pepper, rubber and cocoa plantations amidst green mountainous scenery with 3 stops along the way - first at Serian, a small town to buy some presents (Guide will advise) for the Iban; secondly for lunch; lastly at a pepper plantation. Arrive at Skrang boat jetty at mid afternoon where a motorized longboat await to take you upriver amidst overhanging foliage shed for the boat journey which takes about an hour to Murat Longhouse. There you will see among other things head trophies hanging from the rafters, antique Chinese jars and some 25 families living together under one roof in a 200-meter long longhouse. In the evening, you will feast with the longhouse's chief and folks with traditional dinner and cultural dances. Overnight in the guesthouse. (Lunch & Dinner)

Day 2: After breakfast, witness blowpipe demonstration before going for a brief jungle walk to edible and medicinal plants. Embark into the longboat to go further upriver to visit Tebat Longhouse, fishing along the way with lunch enroute - cooked in bamboo pots over bon fire along the bank of the crystal clear water of Tebat River. Return to Murat in the late afternoon. Overnight in the guesthouse. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Day 3: After breakfast, return to Kuching via the same way with lunch enroute. Arrive Kuching by mid afternoon. (Breakfast & Lunch)
